PayPal OpenAI partnership
Another revolutionary change has arrived in the world of digital payments and artificial intelligence. PayPal has officially announced a partnership with Open AI, the creator of Chat GPT.
PayPal CEO Alex Chriss announced that users will soon be able to make purchases and payments directly within Chat GPT.
PayPal is already a global leader in digital payments, known for making international transactions simple and secure. With its latest announcement on October 28, 2025, the company revealed a major step forward bringing artificial intelligence into the world of payments.
According to CEO Alex Chriss, PayPal will now collaborate with Open AI to integrate its payment wallet into Chat GPT. Starting in 2026, this partnership will allow users to make seamless payments and complete purchases directly through Chat GPT.
He said, “The main goal is to make online shopping faster, easier, and safer with the help of artificial intelligence.”
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman explained, “The purpose of this partnership is to solve a major user problem. Previously, users came to ChatGPT to search for products and compare prices but couldn’t complete their purchases because there was no direct payment option. We’ve solved that. Now, users can search, compare, and buy products directly within ChatGPT — without ever leaving the chat window.”
PayPal and Chat GPT have also introduced a new technology called the Agentic Commerce Protocol (ACP). This system enables Chat GPT to understand what users want to buy and automatically process transactions securely through PayPal.
